Moscow and Beijing will work together to resolve the situation on the Korean Peninsula to ensure peace and stability in northeast Asia. This was stated by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin after talks with President XI Jinping, reports TASS on Tuesday, July 4.
“Agreed to actively promote our shared initiative based on the Russian phased plan for the settlement of Korean and Chinese ideas a parallel freeze of the nuclear activities of the DPRK and large-scale military exercises the United States and the Republic of Korea”, — said Putin.
The two leaders urged the international community to support their position. This is stated in the joint statement of foreign ministries of Russia and China, the text of which is posted on the Russian MFA website.
Putin and XI Jinping during the talks exchanged views on the Syrian settlement and prospects for implementation of agreements on the Iranian nuclear program. The Russian President stated that Moscow and Beijing hold very similar positions on major international issues. “We intend to continue to increase foreign policy coordination”, he stressed.
Earlier on Tuesday it became known that Vladimir Putin presented XI Jinping with the highest state award of Russia — order of St. Andrew the Apostle.
