Moscow reminds Washington that denying access to Russian diplomatic property, the United States violated the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations, said Russian Deputy foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.
“The United States from a legal point of view, flagrantly violate the provisions of the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations. And they are inconsistent even with their own law, which prevents such an encroachment on private property,” — said Ryabkov in an interview to the newspaper “Izvestia”.
“It was acquired by the USSR and then transferred to Russia. There can be no other interpretation or reading. This is a flagrant violation of the law,” — said the Deputy Minister.
The administration of U.S. President Barack Obama at the end of December 2016 introduced a package of anti-Russian sanctions because of “intervention in election” and “pressure on American diplomats” working in Russia. Among other things, the United States has closed access to the two residential complexes, the so — called suburban “summer cottages” Russia’s permanent mission in new York and the Russian Embassy in Washington, which is the Russian diplomatic property. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, commenting on the arrest of Russian property in the U.S., said that Moscow considers the internal difficulties of the US President Donald trump, but without a response it will not leave, if Washington will not do anything.
Earlier, the Washington Post, citing sources familiar with the situation, reported that the administration of the tramp in the study of the question of the return of Russia arrested earlier diplomatic property considering the possibility of depriving these areas of diplomatic immunity. According to the publication, if the premises will lose the immunity, they will be treated as normal buildings, in particular, US law enforcement agencies can get access.
