Salman bin Abdul-Aziz al Saud
Saudi Arabia’s king Salman bin Abdul-Aziz al Saud ordered the newspaper to fire a journalist who has attracted the praise of the monarch. About it reports The Independent.
The anger of the king caused a column of Ramadan al-Anzi in the local newspaper “al Jazeera”, in which the monarch was called “Halim” and “Shahid al-acab” — that is “gentle” and “harsh punishments”, respectively. Both titles are among the 99 names of Allah: thus, the columnist actually compare the king with God.
Saturday, July 1, the newspaper published an apology, the text of which the language of the author named “unacceptable”. Columnist was fired.
