President Vladimir Putin meeting with representatives of Russian animation studios has promised to allocate from the reserve Fund to 500 million rubles to support the domestic animation industry. A transcript of the conversation published on the Kremlin website.

“I’ll talk to Finance, if they resist … make a cartoon about them” — joked the head of state.

The animators told the President that the total annual state support for this sector is about 800 million rubles — about a quarter of the funds that spent in the USA on one episode of the cartoon “Shrek”. The General producer of the group of companies “Ricky” Ilya Popov, in particular, asked the President one billion rubles over the next five years, says “Russian newspaper”.

In addition, representatives of entertainment companies appealed to the head of state with a request to ease the tax burden on the same principle as in the IT industry. This proposal Putin supported. “Almost all of your suggestions are implemented, I say very carefully, because here you need to consult with colleagues,” he said.

Putin held a meeting with representatives of the companies “Animecon”, “Mill”, “Vizart”, “Ricky”, “Kinoatis” and “Soyuzmultfilm” on may 31. The event was devoted to problems and prospects of development of animation industry in Russia.
