In Russia proposed to ban the drinking of alcohol on TV in the afternoon
MOSCOW, may 17 — RIA Novosti. The centre for national alcohol policy development has proposed to prohibit the demonstration of alcohol consumption on television in the period from 6 to 23 hours.
In Russia already banned alcohol advertising on the Internet and on television.
“We have prepared a bill under which it is proposed to amend the article 4 of the Federal law “About mass media” (inadmissibility of abuse of free mass information) a provision prohibiting the use of from 6 to 23 o’clock local time, the demonstration of the processes of consumption of alcoholic products in television, video, film programs, documentary and feature films,” reads a letter published on the organization’s website.
According to experts, in most cases, a demonstration of the use of alcohol in these programs and films “should be seen as hidden advertising”.
A letter sent to Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev with a request to instruct Roskomnadzor, the Ministry of health, Federal Antimonopoly service and the Ministry of justice to consider the bill.
As specified, the instrument should help achieve the goal set by the concept of implement the state policy on reducing alcohol abuse and preventing alcoholism among the population, which was adopted by Cabinet in 2009. The level of alcohol consumption per capita in 2020 should be reduced by 55%.
