On Tuesday, may 9, over the Black sea close to the Russian SU-27 fighter and an American reconnaissance aircraft P-8A “Poseidon”. The distance between the aircraft reduced to approximately six meters. This is with reference to the representative of the United States air force Pamela Kunze reports channel NBC.
She noted that most of these approaches are safe. However, according to Kunze, six meters is too close, other meetings of the planes are usually at a greater distance.
The representative of the U.S. air force said that distance is not the main criterion for assessing the possible danger. It is also worth considering the flight speed, altitude, visibility and other factors.
According to Kunze, the pilot of the American “Poseidon” stated that the actions of the two crews were professional and did not pose a threat.
