Portugal took the first place at “Eurovision-2017”

Portuguese singer Salvador Sobral took first place at the international song contest “Eurovision”, on Saturday, may 13, was held in the Ukrainian capital Kiev. In second place was the participant from Bulgaria, a Muscovite Christian Kostov.

The participant from Portugal El Salvador Together with the song “Amar Pelos Dois” (“love in two” — RBC) became the winner of annual international contest “Eurovision -2017”, the final of which was held 13 may at the International exhibition centre in Kiev. By results of voting of the jury and spectators in 42 countries, the representative of Portugal scored the highest number of votes — 758.

Second place went to the participant from Bulgaria, 17-year-old Muscovite Kristian Kostov, who performed the song “Beautiful Mess”. He gave up 615 points. In third place is the band SunStroke Project from Moldova (374 points).

27-year-old Salvador Sobral became the only contestant of “Eurovision”, which acted on a small stage without a dance accompaniment with light effects. After handing him a crystal microphone — the main prize of the event — he came on the scene with his sister Louise and sang again his song, wrapped the national flag of Portugal stand microphone.

“I want to say that we live in a world of disposable music, festival music, which does not contain meaning in themselves, and I think it could be victory music with people who make music with meaning. Music is not the fireworks, music is feeling. So let’s try to change that and bring back real music,” said Sobral after the announcement of the voting results.

According to The Telegraph, winner of the most recent of all the performers arrived in Kiev and several times missed her rehearsal for health reasons — the singer diagnosed with heart disease.

For the main prize — crystal microphone — fought competitors from 26 countries. 20 of them were representatives of Moldova, Azerbaijan, Greece, Sweden, Portugal, Poland, Armenia, Australia, Cyprus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Belarus, Croatia, Denmark, Hungary, Israel, Romania, Norway, the Netherlands and Austria — were in the finals according to the results of performances in the two semi-finals. Six more countries were in the finals automatically is UK, Italy, Spain, France and Germany, who are the sponsors and founders of the contest, as well as Ukraine, which this year takes all participants.

Russia did not participate in “Eurovision-2017”. To represent the country at the Eurovision song contest was Julia Samoylova with the song “the Flame Is Burning”. However, in late March the security Service of Ukraine has officially banned the entry of Russian singer in the country. The occasion was her performance in 2015 in the Crimea, which, according to Kyiv, is a violation of the Ukrainian legislation.
