Media said Moscow’s refusal to apprehend the killers of Kim Jong-Nam
According to South Korean Newspapers, because of insufficient evidence, the suspects were able to fly via Moscow and Vladivostok.
Moscow. 28 Feb. INTERFAX.RU — Russia did not comply with the request of the South Korean authorities about the arrest of four suspects in the murder in the Malaysian airport Kim Jong-Nam — brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-UN, the newspaper JoongAng Ilbo.
According to the newspaper, the Malaysian police found that four North Korean citizens (Lee JI Hyun, Lee Jae-We, Hong Jong HAK and Jung Gil), who are suspected of involvement in the murder, immediately fled the country.
They were found to have used flights via Jakarta, Dubai, Moscow and Vladivostok
In this regard, the authorities asked Moscow to provide information about the whereabouts of suspects and to detain them for identity verification to prevent out possible criminals in North Korea. However, the application was rejected because of insufficient evidence at the initial stage of the investigation. According to a diplomatic source, Russia has allowed the alleged murderers to leave the country.
Kim Jong-Nam was poisoned at the airport of the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur on February 13. It was found that the cause of the poisoning was the substance of VX nerve action, which is a component of chemical weapons.
