The Syrian army has beaten fighters of the terrorist group “Islamic state” (banned in Russia) from the strategic heights near Palmyra. It is reported RIA Novosti with reference to the news Agency SANA.
According to the Agency, the Syrian military on Sunday evening had taken control of height 939,5, which is dominant in the mountainous area of El Hayal.
It is noted that the terrorists have lost a lot of manpower and a large amount of military equipment.
Earlier it was reported that the Syrian military and militia with air support drove the terrorists from the gas fields , Hen at Palmyra in HOMS province.
Palmyra was once again captured by terrorists in December 2016. Militants have destroyed part of the historical and architectural heritage of the city.
