In the Federation Council criticized the draft law on deprivation of senators mandates for truancy

Sergey Katanandov

Proposed by deputies of the state Duma from fraction of LDPR the bill of deprivation of mandates of senators for skipping unnecessary and far from the modern reality of the initiative. This opinion was expressed by first Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee for Federative structure, regional policy, local government and Northern Affairs Sergey Katanandov in his interview to the National news service (NSN) on Tuesday, February 21.

According to him, members of the upper house of Parliament are disciplined. “We have such things impossible. At the meeting, are almost all senators who are not sick,” Katanandov said, adding that it is a merit of the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.

According to him, the Federation Council members can miss a meeting only because of illness or visits to the regions.

February 20, deputies from LDPR Igor Lebedev and Sergey Ivanov has submitted for consideration the lower chamber the project, allowing to deprive of mandates of senators for missed meetings, and loss of relationships with the inhabitants of the regions they represent before.

The document envisages that a member of SF can be terminated if it does not work with the voters and does not attend the meeting of the upper house of Parliament for more than 30 days.

In April 2016 the law was passed, allowing to deprive of deputies of the state Duma mandates for systematic failure to perform official duties. Later on these grounds was dismissed from the Deputy Ilya Ponomarev.
