The head of the State Department of the United States Rex Tillerson on behalf of the country expressed condolences on the death of the permanent representative of Russia to the UN Vitaly Churkin, according to RIA Novosti.
Earlier the condolences over the death of the Russian Ambassador expressed by many officials, diplomats and public figures. Among them former US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power, who was one of the main opponents Churkin at the meetings of the organization. Power said that “devastated” over the death of his colleague.
Vitaly Churkin, died February 20 at the age of 64 in new York, the day before his birthday. The diplomat died in working post. The President of Russia Vladimir Putin posthumously awarded Russia’s Ambassador to the UN the Order of courage.
