Azerbaijan’s President appointed his wife, first Vice-President
The introduction of such a post was approved by referendum in 2016.
Moscow. 21 Feb. INTERFAX.RU President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has appointed his wife Mehriban Aliyev, the first Vice President of Azerbaijan. The corresponding order was signed by Aliyev on Tuesday. It is published on the website of the President.
In September 2016 in Azerbaijan held a referendum on amendments to the Constitution. Overall, the Constitution has been amended 29 amended.
Changes among others include the introduction in Azerbaijan of the Institute first Vice-President and Vice-President
In addition, five to seven years has been increased the presidential term of office, and for presidential candidates was abolished age limits.
To date, the post of first Vice-President remained vacant.
