Matviyenko goes on an official visit to Vietnam

The delegation of the Federation Council headed by the Chairman Valentina Matvienko 20 Feb goes on an official visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, told reporters in the press service of the Federation Council.

During the trip, which will last until February 22, is scheduled to meet with the leadership of the country. In particular, will hold talks with Chairman of National Assembly Nguyen thi Kim Ngan. The interlocutors will discuss a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, focusing on cooperation of the parliaments of the two countries.

“Russia and Vietnam have traditionally enjoyed good relations. The interaction is based on the principles of equality, mutual respect for sovereignty, commitment to finding mutually acceptable solutions. A considerable contribution to the strengthening of inter-parliamentary relations contribute. Contacts are actively developing, and in a variety of formats”, — cited the press service of Council of Federation of the words of Valentina Matvienko.

Also scheduled to discuss trade and economic cooperation, collaboration in education, science and tourism. Special attention will be paid to the expansion of ties between the Russian regions and Vietnamese provinces.

The Chairman of the Federation Council believes that the entry into force of the free trade Agreement between the Eurasian economic Union and Vietnam creates conditions for increasing of quantitative and qualitative indicators in this area.

It is also expected that the Russian parliamentarians will meet with representatives of the Vietnamese provinces.

The delegation includes Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Ilyas Umakhanov, first Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on rules and parliamentary performance management Svetlana Goryacheva, Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council Committee on economic policy Valery Vasiliev, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs Alexander Totoonov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on defence and safety Vyacheslav markhayev, Governor of the Nenets Autonomous district Igor Koshin, Governor of the Primorsky territory Vladimir Miklushevsky, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Orenburg region Sergey Grachev.
