The chief of the Russian General staff Valery Gerasimov and Chairman of the joint chiefs of staff of the United States Joseph Dunford will meet on Thursday, February 16, in Baku. About it as transfers TASS, said the Pentagon.
The detailed scope of the meeting is not specified. According to the report, Gerasimov and Dunford will discuss a range of issues including the current state of us-Russian military relations and the importance of consistent and clear communication between the military in order to prevent miscalculations and potential crises”.
Dunford and Gerasimov communicate regularly by phone, in particular, the last major cycle of negotiations was held in December 2016. The sides discussed security issues in the middle East.
In early January 2017 Dunford said that the contacts with the Russian General staff need to conduct more including and personal meetings. “No matter what is the relationship between the two countries. Need to communicate”, — he explained.
