NYT: Kiev any major problems with the organization of “Eurovision”

As previously reported, the creative team who worked on “Eurovision-2017” in Ukraine, February 13, officially announced the termination of work.

Discontinuance of the creative team involved in the organization of “Eurovision-2017” in Ukraine shows that Kiev is faced with serious difficulties in preparations for the song contest. This view is presented in the paper of the American newspaper The New York Times.

The article notes that “the song contest “Eurovision”, the annual contest, which has started many careers of international stars such as Celine Dion, was now under threat after this week participants of the Ukrainian team who were involved in organising the event, EN masse announced the termination of work on the background of allegations of corruption and mismanagement”.

As highlighted in the publication, “questions remain about whether properly conducted tenders for the construction of the pavilion for the competition”, as well as Kazakhstan for its guests.

As previously reported, the creative team who worked on “Eurovision-2017” in Ukraine, February 13, officially announced the termination of work. The statement signed by 21 people. Team representatives noted that in December last year they took power and appointed a new actual head of the competition (Deputy General Director of a broadcasting company Paul Gritsak — approx. TASS), which gave full control of all aspects of “Eurovision-2017”. As a result, the work of the team was completely blocked.

In the final of “Eurovision 2016”, held on 14 may in the capital of Sweden, won the Ukrainian singer Jamala with a song “1944”. Second place went to a singer from Australia Demi Them, the third — Sergey Lazarev, representing Russia. The winning country, according to the contest rules, accepts the “Eurovision” next year. The final of “Eurovision-2017” scheduled for may 13.
