10 years “Munich speech”: what was right Vladimir Putin

The annual Munich conference is one of the most representative international forums, where politicians, military and experts from different countries to discuss the problems of international security. Vladimir Putin’s speech at the conference in 2007, became a kind of sensation for the first time in recent history, the Russian leader so directly and harshly outlined its position on key issues on the international agenda.

According to political analysts, the past years have shown that the thesis of Putin’s speech has not lost relevance, many negative trends, which warned the Russian leader, only intensified.

The primacy of force over the law

From the speech of Vladimir Putin in 2007: “Today we are witnessing an almost unrestrained, hypertrophied use of force in international Affairs — of military force, forces, plunging the world into another conflict. …We see greater disdain for the basic principles of international law.”
