Putin signed the law on personal data

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law, strengthening administrative responsibility for violation of legislation on personal data. Relevant document published on the official portal of legal information.



The amendments to article 13.11 of the administrative code “Violation of the statutory procedure for collection, storage, use, or dissemination of information about citizens (personal data)”. Now it provides a warning or administrative fine in the amount of 300-500 rubles, for officials – from 500 to thousand roubles, for legal entities – from 5 thousand to 10 thousand rubles. Now the citizens will pay 1-3 thousand rubles, officials – 5-10 thousand, and for legal 15-75 thousand rubles.



The processing of personal data without the written consent of the subject in cases where it must be obtained in accordance with the law processing personal data with violation of the established requirements to the content of information contained in subject’s consent to the processing of personal data under the new law, entails a fine for citizens in amount of 3-5 thousand rubles, for officials – 10-20 thousand rubles, and legal – 15-75 thousand RUB



In addition, stipulated penalties for failure to perform operator duties to publish, or to ensure unrestricted access to the document that defines the policy of the operator in relation to the processing of personal data. Such a violation could cost the citizens from 700 rubles to 1.5 thousand, officials – 5-10 thousand, while legal entities can lose 10-30 thousand rubles.
