The former Deputy chief of the General staff of the armed forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant-General Yuri Dumansky in an interview with Ukrainian edition of “Apostrophe” said that Kiev would “leave Russia” Sevastopol to regain the Crimea.
“We can, for example, Sevastopol, the main city, where the Russian black sea fleet, for a transitional period to leave,” said Dumansky, answering the question of how Ukraine could get back Crimea.
In a referendum held in March 2014, 96.77% of voters of the Republicof Crimea public and 95.6% of residents of Sevastopol voted for joining the Peninsula to Russia. The Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that the residents of Crimea voted for reunification, in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter.
