In the Chapter of the Ministry of internal Affairs in Petersburg and Leningrad region told TASS that against the transfer of Isaac protested about two thousand citizens. This action was not coordinated with the authorities, so the event was held in the format of a meeting with deputies of city legislative Assembly. Some participants were holding white balloons with the inscription “Not the ROC”.

January 10 the St. Petersburg authorities have agreed to transfer the St. Isaac Cathedral, the Russian Orthodox Church. The Governor Georgy Poltavchenko promised that the Museum’s function is fully preserved. For the first time, the St. Petersburg diocese has requested the transfer of Isaac in 2015, but was refused.
