Denis Boronenkov
The message that former state Duma Deputy from the Communist Denis Boronenkov testified the Prosecutor General’s office of Ukraine (PGO) on charges of treason of former President Viktor Yanukovych, is not a newspaper hoax. This point of view in an interview with “Tape.ru” stated Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist party Kazbek Taysayev, a member of the Duma Committee on CIS Affairs.
“Can’t believe it, it’s kind of a duck. I am familiar with Denis by Voronenkova, and his wife Maria Maksakova, and never will believe that he could have similar moves to make,” said Taysaev on Friday, January 27, commenting on the fact that Voronenkov testified against Yanukovych and emigrated from Russia.
Secretary of the party Central Committee stressed that, in his opinion, Boronenkov — “deeply Patriotic man and did much for our country, including being the Deputy of the state Duma”
In turn, the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Deputy Vladimir Kashin has promised that the Communist party will understand the situation and expressed doubt that a former member had left the country and gave testimony of the GPU, passed TASS.
According to the newspaper “Kommersant”, Boronenkov partially confirmed the Ukrainian investigators testimony previously given by another former state Duma Deputy Ilya Ponomarev, who reported about alleged agreements between Yanukovych and the Russian leadership.
January 18, Ukrainian media published photos of a letter of Yanukovych to Russian President Vladimir Putin, dated March 1, 2014. In it, the politician is asking the Russian leader to send troops into the country “to restore legality, peace, law and order, stability and protection of the population”.
Yanukovych was President of Ukraine from 2010 to 2014. He left the country in February 2014 after the Euromaidan — mass protest actions in Kyiv and other cities, which ended a violent change of power in the country. Against Yanukovych in Ukraine initiated several criminal cases, he was declared wanted and his properties in the country were arrested.
