Talking about transferring the ROC of the Museum-reserve “Chersonese” of now. On Tuesday, January 24, said the head of the Synodal Department for Church and society and the media Vladimir Legoyda, his words posted on the Department’s website.
“Talk about the transfer of the objects of the reserve are unfounded to provide for located at the national Museum collections the necessary premises, who will agree the Museum. We are talking exclusively about the transfer of churches and monastic buildings, and not for any other Museum objects,” — said Legoyda.
In addition, it is advised not to compare the situation of Tauric Chersonesos with the transfer of the Russian Orthodox Church of St. Isaac’s Cathedral in St. Petersburg.
The Ministry of culture, which manages the reserve, called the question of change of the owner of “Chersonese” discussion. The Director of the Museum Svetlana Melnikova said that the institution in case of transfer of the Church can be severely damaged.
On 23 January it was reported that the Crimean and Simferopol diocese is preparing a request to the Federal property management Agency about the transfer of 24 sites of the reserve. In the Russian Orthodox Church reminded that in the Museum are the buildings that had previously belonged to Chersonesus Prince Vladimir monastery.
In 2013, Chersonesus was included in the list of UNESCO cultural heritage.
