Germany opposes full or partial lifting of sanctions against Russia in exchange for agreement on the reduction of nuclear weapons. This was stated by the Minister of defence of Germany Ursula von der Leyen in the program Hardtalk on TV channel “bi-Bi-si”.
The Minister said that Berlin’s position remains unchanged: only the full implementation by Moscow and its allies the Minsk agreement can lead to the lifting of restrictions. Responding to a question on the proposed Donald trump deal, von der Leyen said: “it is Obvious that a bunch of “sanctions in exchange for limiting nuclear weapons” doesn’t work, so Germany is the decision is not supported”.
January 15, in an interview with Bild newspaper the Times and Donald trump made for the conclusion of nuclear agreements with Moscow in the framework of negotiations on the mitigation of anti-Russian sanctions. “Let’s see if we can make some good deals with Russia. I think I’ll start with the fact that nuclear weapons should be significantly reduced,” he said.
Press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov, in turn, said that no negotiations on the nuclear deal between the two countries is currently not conducted.
