In Hurghada opened Russian Consulate General

In the Egyptian resort town of Hurghada officially began its work, the Consulate General of Russia. About it RIA Novosti said the head of the diplomatic mission, Consul General Dzhamshed Boltaev.

The diplomat noted that, despite the temporary suspension of tourist flow from Russia, the Consulate General has already received a lot of requests from the Russians. “Colony of Russian citizens living in Hurghada, consists of about 20 thousand people. This Russian citizen, married to Egyptians, and the people living here in the season. There are also those who live in the resort for medical reasons,” explained Boltaev.

While the mission is running in test mode, as yet not fully configured computer hardware. Full operation of the new Consulate General, which includes the issuance of visas and passports, according to the Consul General, will begin in late February.

The Consulate building is located on the main street of the famous resort of al-Mamsha. His staff consists of three diplomats and administrative staff.

The decree on opening General Consulate of Russia in Hurghada was adopted by the government in November 2015.

Currently, the tourist flow from Russia to the resorts of Egypt is missing. In the fall of 2015, the ship on Board of which there were 224 people, mostly Russians, were blown up over the Sinai Peninsula. After that, Moscow has suspended direct flights between the two countries, and demanded to strengthen security measures in Egyptian airports.
