NATO may not survive the first term of Donald trump. In an interview with the publication Politico said the former Deputy commander of NATO forces in Europe Richard Sheriff.
The retired General believes that pre-election rhetoric of the elected American President, coupled with his first foreign policy initiatives unit not promise anything good.
“If he (trump – approx.ed) will undermine the basis of mutual trust and collective security, NATO will not survive the next five years,” said Sherrif.
According to a retired General, to save the Alliance can only the fifth article of the NATO Treaty, which States that the threat of the allies is automatically considered as an aggression against all the allied States.
