Elected President of the United States Donald trump is ready to cancel sanctions against Russia in exchange for “the best deal”, for example, on nuclear weapons.
The candidate to head the U.S. Treasury Steven Mnuchin confirmed this at the hearing on confirmation of its candidacy to the Senate Finance Committee.
Democratic Senator Ben Cardin reminded that he is now preparing legislative strengthening of sanctions against Russia, and asked the nominees if they support the sanctions. “100% – said Mnuchin. And I think our President-elect has made it clear that he is ready to change the sanctions only in the case if you get a “better deal”. That is, if we get something in return. Whether it be nuclear weapons or in other areas.”
The nominee also said he believes the implementation of sanctions to combat terrorism “and other illegal activities” the most important non-partisan issue which should be maintained in any case. “I can assure you that where there are sanctions, I’m ready to use them to the maximum limit established by law,” he said.
Cardin further said that he intends, if approved by Mnuchin to send him along with another democratic Senator mark Warner’s request for investigation concerning Anthony’s Scaramucci, newly appointed Advisor to trump on suspicion “in violation of sanctions against Russia.”
“Of course, assured him Mnuchin, and everything you send me, either I myself or my staff on my behalf immediately will understand. Can you be 100% sure”.
