The US Republicans have defended the two districts in the elections to Congress
WASHINGTON, 21 Feb — RIA Novosti, Alexei Bogdanovsky. Republican party won in two constituencies, where on Tuesday held a by-election to the house of representatives — the results announced by CNN.
It is only two parliamentary seats out of 538 seats in Congress. Elections could affect the balance of power in Congress, both houses of which are controlled by Republicans.
However, the elections in these districts was considered an important indicator of whether the opposition in the face of the Democrats to play on the relative unpopularity of a Republican President Donald trump and the numerous scandals surrounding his administration.
The hopes of the Democrats was not justified. Georgia Republican Karen Handel defeated Democrat John Ossoff in the County which includes several suburbs of Atlanta. This district Republicans have won in the last four decades, but this race was particularly hard and set a record for the cost of both candidates.
In South Carolina, Republican Ralph Norman defeated Democrat Archie Parnell by a small margin.
Parliamentary seat in the sixth district of Georgia was released after a member of Congress Tom Price was approved by the Minister of health in the administration of the trump. Fifth district of South Carolina held a special election after his representative Mick of Malvani was appointed Director of the White house on the budget.
Trump in the election campaign was supported by both Republican candidates.
The next full elections to the Congress will be held in November 2018 in so-called midterm elections will be elected the entire membership of the house of representatives and a third of senators.
