Permanent representative of Russia to the UN Vitaly Churkin, who died February 20, awarded with medal “Glory of Ossetia” – the highest award of the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania. The handover ceremony of the order took place the meeting of Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Gennady Gatilov with Plenipotentiary of the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania under the Russian President Boris by Panaevym. This was reported in the foreign Ministry.
“During the meeting, the handover ceremony for the family of the deceased, the permanent representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Vitaly Churkin order “Glory of Ossetia”, – noted in the Russian dipvedomstva.
“This highest award of the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania Churkin was awarded for services to the people of Ossetia and professionalism during his tenure the Russian representative to the UN. In reply Gatilov expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania for the high evaluation of the work of Churkina,” – said the Russian foreign Ministry.
Vitaly Churkin was born on 21 February 1952 in Moscow in the family of aviation engineer. 8 APR 2006 held the position of permanent representative to the UN in new York, was the representative of Russia in the UN Security Council. Russian President Vladimir Putin posthumously awarded the diplomat of the order of Courage. The Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov pointed out that Churkin had “died on duty”.
