In Russia may appear academic degrees in theology
The Ministry of education and science has prepared a draft order that includes theology in the list of specialties for which scientific degrees are awarded. The document was published on the Federal portal of projects of normative legal acts.
The draft order introduces changes in the order of the Ministry dated 25 February 2009 “On approval of the Nomenclature of scientific specialties, which are awarded degrees”.
As an academic specialty theology appeared in Russia in 2015, Before this close to theology topics defended in other specialties related to the philosophy, Culturology, sociology, etc. the current now (after the introduction of the specialty “Theology”) rules, applicants can protect work in this specialty, however, will receive the degree of doctor and candidate of philosophical, sociological, etc. Sciences, depending on the topic of work. First, such protection will be held in late may 2017.
If we consider now the project is accepted, the researchers protecting work in the specialty “Theology” will receive the degree of candidate (doctor) of theology.
The higher attestation Commission approved the initiative. “The Presidium of the HAC recommended that the Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation to take a decision on the introduction branch of science “Theology” with the possibility of awarding degrees of candidate of theology and doctor of theology and making appropriate changes in the nomenclature of scientific specialties, which are awarded degrees”, — is spoken in the explanatory note to the document.
At the moment the project is in the process of public discussion. It will end on 7 June.
