In major cities of côte d’ivoire heard intensive shooting
MOSCOW, may 15 — RIA Novosti. Intense gunfire could be heard Monday morning in major cities of côte d’ivoire Abidjan and bouaké, reports Reuters citing eyewitnesses.
“I heard the sound of gunfire from Kalashnikov assault rifles and heavier weapons. Intensive shooting began at about five in the morning (08.00 GMT) and lasted about an hour,” — said the Agency a resident of Abidjan, residing near the U.S. Embassy and the presidential Palace.
Witnesses also reported shooting at the entrance and in the centre of bouaké.
The unrest, involving servicemen and personnel of other law enforcement agencies occurring in côte d’ivoire since the beginning of January. Last week the authorities announced that more than 8 thousand troops refused financial demands, which caused mass protests. However, another group of the Ivorian military has condemned the refusal of their colleagues from higher payments.
