CIA chief visited unannounced visit to South Korea

Moscow. May 1. INTERFAX.RU — CIA Director Michael Pompeo visited Seoul, where he met behind closed doors with the head of the intelligence services of South Korea and major advisers to the President, said on Monday the South Korean newspaper “Choson Ilbo”.

According to her, an unannounced visit took place last weekend on the background of the complicated situation around the DPRK.

During the meetings, Pompeo told the South Korean side of the part policy of the administration of U.S. President Donald trump against Pyongyang, and also gave an assessment of the situation in the DPRK leadership.

The U.S. Embassy in South Korea confirmed the visit, noting that “the head of the CIA and his wife are in Seoul for meetings with representatives of the command of the us armed forces in Korea, and with the Embassy staff”.
