By the end of 2026, it is planned to build four metro stations in Nizhny Novgorod
Four new metro stations will appear in Nizhny Novgorod by the end of 2026. Mayor of the city Yuri Shalabaev announced plans to expand the metro, reports KP.RU.
The matter concerns the stations Sennaya, Opera Theater, Varya and Sormovskaya. According to the newspaper, a total of 56.5 billion rubles will be allocated for the development of the metro. Of these funds, 35.5 billion will be used to extend the Avtozavodskaya metro line, and another 19.6 billion rubles – to build the Varya and Sormovskaya stations. Analysts point out that the commissioning of the stations will increase passenger traffic by 50 percent – from 100 to 150 thousand people a day.
It is specified that two of the four new stations will be located in the center of the Sormovsky district, and two more – in the Nagornaya parts of the city. The construction will be entrusted to the winning group of companies (GC) Mosproekt-3. It is known that the specialists of this organization have designed and built dozens of new stations of the Moscow metro.
Talking about the existing plans, the Minister of Transport and Highways of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Pavel Savateev noted that Nizhny Novgorod is located in difficult conditions for transport services. “The city is divided by a river, and its right side is much higher. In addition, a large number of historic buildings reduce traffic capacity on the streets, although the number of cars on the roads is growing, “he explained, adding that the authorities perceive the metro as part of a new comfortable route network.
Earlier it was reported, that in three Russian cities a new method of paying for public transport was launched in test mode – funds can be transferred via a mobile application. It was clarified that the experiment is being carried out in Tver, Perm and Taganrog.
