Russian military will receive “Tornado-S”

The head of the missile forces and artillery of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mikhail Matveyevsky, called a feature of the modernized MLRS. According to him, “Tornado-S” can hit small targets with guided projectiles. The vehicle also received automated guidance systems that allow the crew to prepare a launch in the Tornado-S cockpit.

Previously, the General Director of NPO Splav named after A.N. Ganichev “(part of the Tekhnodinamika holding of the Rostec state corporation) Alexander Smirnov spoke about the start of production of corrected missiles for Tornado-S. According to him, the company signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense for the supply of ammunition.

In August, a columnist for The National Interest magazine assessed the Russian MLRS, which can independently engage targets. The publication noted that an artificial intelligence artillery installation would require the creation of an unmanned vehicle.
