Experts have discovered a vulnerability in MediaTek chips, due to which an attacker can inject malicious code into the processor and compromise user data. In remote exploitation, a hacker can listen in on the victim's conversations. According to experts, the vulnerability is hidden in the AI ​​processing unit (APU) and digital signal processor (DSP) of the chip.
According to Check Point Research, since the vulnerability is present in MediaTek processors, it could affect about 40 percent smartphones all over the world. The authors also named the gadgets that are most susceptible to hacking. Among them were smartphones Samsung Galaxy A31, Galaxy A41, Galaxy A03s, Galaxy A12, Galaxy A22, Galaxy A32, Galaxy M22 and the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite tablet. The described devices were released in 2020 or later.
Experts noted that Samsung is already aware of the vulnerability and has even proposed fixes that eliminate it. For most smartphones, patches were released in October-November. In conclusion, the experts recommended that users of these devices update their devices.
