Efimov: every second family mortgage loan falls on a family with one child
For the period from July to September 2021, every second loan for housing, issued under the “Family Mortgage” program, was issued by spouses with one child. Moscow Deputy Mayor for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations Vladimir Efimov told Vedomosti newspaper about this.
During this period, families with one child accounted for 52 percent of loans under the preferential program – 980 out of 1.9 thousand contracts. Parents of two children also bought apartments on mortgages – 644 loans or 33 percent of the total. Families with three children accounted for 235 loans, which corresponds to an indicator of 12 percent. 85 loans for housing (4 percent of the total) were issued by parents raising a child with a disability.
According to the Deputy Mayor, this dynamics is explained by the fact that in July 2021 the preferential program was extended to families with one child. According to statistics, there are almost twice as many such families than parents raising two or more children.
In August 2021, the government extended the preferential Family Mortgage program until December 31, 2023. Families were given the opportunity to continue to receive loans for the purchase of housing or the construction of an individual house at a reduced rate – up to 6 percent per annum.
