In the first nine months of 2021, the number of complaints increased in Russia that go to the office of the human rights ombudsman. Most often, residents are dissatisfied with the housing and utilities sector. Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova told about this in an interview with “Parlamentskaya Gazeta”.

According to Moskalkova, she received more than three thousand complaints during this period – the figure was twice as high as for the same period in 2020. Most of all, residents were dissatisfied with overpriced payments for housing and housing and communal services – the number of complaints increased by 71 percent compared to 2020.

The discontent of owners was three times more likely to be caused by resettlement from dilapidated and dilapidated housing. Complaints from privileged categories of citizens about the process of providing housing began to be received twice as often. Russians also began to express their dissatisfaction with social support for residents by 68 percent. During this period, the number of complaints from defrauded real estate investors increased by 67 percent.

The Ombudsman also noted that most complaints come from residents of the Central, Southern and Volga Federal Districts. Less discontent comes from the North Caucasian and Far Eastern federal districts. “But the statistics for the Karachay-Cherkess Republic and the Altai Republic are especially impressive – over the past nine months, only one complaint has been received from there,” Moskalkova said.
