French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian called Russia as a neighbor and spoke in favor of the need for dialogue with Moscow. However, he added that neighbors are different. Le Drian's words, said on the air of the RTL channel, RIA Novosti reports.
“Russia is, first of all, a neighbor. This is reality, but geography is stubborn, as you know, and Russia has not expressed its intention to “move.” Sometimes neighbors are unbearable, there are neighbors who annoy you, but they remain your neighbors, “the diplomat said and added that therefore you must always act for the benefit of common interests and continue the dialogue.
He cited the meeting as an example. Foreign and Defense Ministers of France and Russia in the “2 + 2” format. Le Drian noted that he would not call the meeting good, but the main thing is that it took place.
The meeting was held on November 12 in Paris. It was attended by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, the French side was represented by Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian and Minister of the Armed Forces Florence Parley.
