Former President Poroshenko called for more weapons to Ukraine ahead of Russia's invasion
During the International Security Forum in Halifax, Canada, he called the invasion of Russia in the near future extremely possible and asked NATO for weapons. This is stated in a message on the website of the political force.
So that Moscow does not dare to take such actions, the politician called on the Western allies to provide Kiev with more weapons, including anti-aircraft weapons, and electronic warfare. Such actions should raise the price of aggression for Russia.
According to Poroshenko, it is also urgent to find a consensus on providing Ukraine with an action plan for NATO membership. The Ukrainian politician is confident that this will not help his country, but an investment in global security.
The former Ukrainian president called the general position of the world community on sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline another way to contain Russia's aggression. He stressed that for Moscow, energy policy has become a key element of hybrid aggression, so the project must be stopped.
Earlier, The New York Times, citing American and European officials, reported that American intelligence considers it likely that Russia will invade Ukraine in the near future. According to the community, everything is ready for the attack, although Moscow's plans are still unknown. In Russia, they deny all accusations of preparing aggression.
