Medical director “Helix” Denisov: it is better to give up alcohol before vaccination
A few days before and within 3-5 days after vaccination or revaccination it is better to stop smoking and drinking alcohol. Dmitry Denisov, the medical director of the Helix Laboratory Service, told RBC about this.
He explained that alcohol has a suppressive effect on the immune system and can cause other side effects due to intoxication and allergic reactions. As a result, this can lead to a worsening of the condition after vaccination and negatively affect the formation of the immune response, the expert warned.
Denisov added that before revaccination, protein products should be consumed, which are necessary for the production of specific antibodies. In addition, he drew attention to the fact that the diet should have a sufficient amount of vitamins A, B6, B12, B9, C, D, E, as well as minerals such as zinc, copper, selenium, iron, since they play a key role in maintaining the immune systems. At the same time, the expert recommended that Russians, who are at risk for allergic diseases, should refuse products that could potentially cause allergies during the vaccination period. These products include smoked meats, chocolate, sweets and citrus fruits.
Earlier, pediatrician-immunologist Andrei Prodeus named products that affect the production of antibodies after vaccination.
