RBC-Ukraine: Germany may create a company to manage the offshore section of Nord Stream 2
which Gazprom can adhere to in the situation with Nord Stream 2. RBC-Ukraine writes about this.
The publication indicated that in order to fulfill the conditions of the German regulator and the earliest possible launch of the gas pipeline in Germany, a new company could be created to manage its 12-mile offshore section. In this case, the conditions for certification under the EU Third Energy Package will be formally fulfilled, despite the inconsistency with the spirit of the agreement.
It is noted that after the launch of Nord Stream 2, gas transit through the territory of Ukraine will sharply drop, which entails the risk of leaving several cities without gas supply at the height of the heating season. This will happen due to the impossibility of ensuring the reverse reverse – the virtual purchase of gas from the recipient countries and the pumping of the fuel they are entitled to directly from the pipe.
Meanwhile, in Germany, it is believed that, at best, to overcome all legal subtleties on the way of certification the gas pipeline will be completed by spring, and not necessarily by its beginning. The Kremlin and Nord Stream 2 AG refuse to comment on the timing of the start of operation.
Earlier, the Bundestag disclosed the goal of postponing the certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. MP from the Alternative for Germany party Steffen Kotrets said that the EU Commission and the US are trying to disrupt the launch of the gas pipeline to make the project more expensive, harm Russia and gain benefits for American gas.
