Biden's administration candidate asked to explain ties with the Komsomol

The US Senate asked the candidate Biden for the post in the Ministry of Finance to confirm his withdrawal from the Komsomol which US President Joe Biden nominated for a post in the Office of Foreign Exchange Control of the Ministry of Finance of the country, to explain his ties with the All-Union Leninist Communist Youth Union (Komsomol). This is reported by RBC.

Kennedy demanded that Omarova provide confirmation of her withdrawal from the “organization of young communists.” In response to this, the candidate for the post, who hardly understood the essence of the demand, noted that, as she remembers, they leave the Komsomol when they reach a certain age. After that, other parliamentarians stood up for Omarova, noting that she had long since renounced USSR citizenship.

It is noted that 55-year-old Omarova is a graduate of Moscow State University. If appointed, a Moscow University graduate will become the first woman to head the department in 158 years of its existence. At the same time, according to the Financial Times, Omarova's candidacy was criticized by Republicans and representatives of the banking sector. “I'm an easy target: immigrant, woman, minority. It is easy to demonize and vilify me, ”the politician herself emphasized.
