Russians warned of a shortage of hotel rooms at the resort of the rich

ATOR: it’s almost impossible to find free rooms in Maldives hotels on New Year's Eve period. This was reported on the website of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).

According to tour operators, the Maldives, which are considered a resort for the rich, are one of the most popular destinations for the New Year holidays among Russian tourists. It is noted that from January 1 to November 9, 194.5 thousand domestic travelers visited the Maldives, which is 385.3 percent more than in 2020. In terms of tourist flow, Russia ranks second.

It is reported that in many accommodation facilities it is no longer possible to find free rooms. “It is almost impossible to confirm options with a good price-quality ratio for families with children either for the New Year or for February. Those who want to go to the Maldives for a villa of interest, need to be prepared for the fact that the reservation must be made at least 5-6 months before arrival, “- said tour operators.

Tourists were also warned that that due to the growing tourist flow to the Maldives, there are problems with transfers to the islands from Male International Airport. Tourists are transported by seaplanes exclusively during daylight hours, namely from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., so travelers have to either wait in line at a crowded airport or choose a different type of transfer.

Earlier in November, it was reported that that Russians are massively interested in another popular beach country – Egypt. Thus, the demand for travel on New Year's Eve has grown sharply after a long weekend in November and, according to forecasts of experts in the tourism industry, may reach a dock level.
