The head of KSORS Branson hopes that the US authorities will stop persecuting Russian foreign agents
Chairman of the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots (KSORS) Elena Branson said that the organization hopes that the US authorities will stop persecuting Russian foreign agents. She told RIA Novosti about this.
“We, as a non-political, informal and non-profit organization that did not receive funds and do not have our own account, are not foreign agents,” the agency's interlocutor said, adding that now there is an increase in the process of repatriation of compatriots to Russia.
According to her, over the past year, as part of an investigation into violations of laws on foreign agents, the FBI interrogated at least several hundred of the most active representatives of the Russian diaspora in the United States. “Among those interrogated were the majority of KSORS members, and FBI agents came to me with a search,” the head of the organization noted.
Branson emphasized that “it was this unprecedented pressure from the American special services on the Russian community that caused the work to be suspended KSORS “. In her opinion, now members of the US KSORS may be prosecuted.
Earlier, the Coordinating Council of Organizations of Russian Compatriots in the United States (KSORS) suspended its activities due to an investigation by the American special services. The decision to close it was made due to the activities of the FBI in relation to KSORS. Throughout 2021, at least 300 Russians in the United States, from students to retirees, were subjected to FBI investigative measures, the council noted.
