Economist Andrei Klepach: about 80 percent of Russians passed the census
According to various sources, about 80 percent of the population of Russia was census. Andrey Klepach, chairman of the public council of Rosstat, chief economist of VEB.RF, reported on the share of those who passed the census.
“Due to various sources, more than 80 percent have been rewritten, [data] vary by region,” he said Klepach, noting that this figure is higher than expected during the coronavirus pandemic.
He added that there is no mass crawl of the population by census takers now. Russians for the census mainly used electronic registration.
Earlier, the deputy head of Rosstat Pavel Smelov said that the number of citizens who took part in the All-Russian population census exceeded 100 percent. He stressed that this is preliminary data, and also noted that in the next two months the information will be processed.
The population census in Russia was conducted from October 15 to November 14, 2021. The procedure was supposed to be organized back in 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic it had to be postponed.
