Russian immunologist spoke about the loss of antibodies in patients with COVID-19

Immunologist Kryuchkov: 10 percent of COVID-19 survivors do not produce enough antibodies six months later, they can no longer be identified. This was told by the immunologist, candidate of medical sciences Nikolai Kryuchkov in an interview with Izvestia.

According to the specialist, 10 percent of those who have undergone coronavirus do not produce enough antibodies to protect against infection. At the same time, there are people whose titer after illness exceeded 1000 Bau/milligram.

Kryuchkov noted that it is not necessary to issue QR codes to Russians with an antibody titer of 300 Bau/milligram for six months, since there is a high probability the disappearance of the body's protection soon.

Earlier, Nikolai Kryuchkov commented on the idea of issuing QR codes to those who have had a history of illness, announced earlier by the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova. The immunologist believes that antibodies are an indicator of specific immunity, which directly correlates with the degree of protection against COVID-19. Because of this, people with high antibody levels can be issued certificates.
