Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned Poland in the situation with migrants, gathered on the border with Belarus, and criticized the methods of its defense. He stated this on Thursday, November 18, during an expanded meeting of the collegium of the Russian Foreign Ministry, broadcasted by RT on YouTube.
The head of state pointed out that many videos of how Polish security forces behave at the border. “I just feel sorry for the children. Small children … No, they pour water, tear gas. The grenades are thrown there. At night, helicopters fly along the border, sirens turn on, “he said.
Putin also recalled how in 2014, when the conflict in Donbass began, the Polish authorities stated that it was impossible to use similar means against the civilian population on Ukraine. “And what are they doing themselves?” – concluded the Russian leader.
Earlier it was reported that a baby died in the forest near the Polish-Belarusian border. Polish rescuers received a request for help at about 2 am. Upon arrival, they found several exhausted migrants who had been wandering in the forest for more than a month. A married couple, whose one-year-old child died, also needed medical assistance.
In early November, refugees from the Middle East gathered in Belarus on the border with Poland and Lithuania, trying to get into the territory of the European Union. On November 16, illegal immigrants tried to break the barriers and started throwing stones, sticks and other objects at the Polish military. In response, Poland fired tear gas, water cannons and stun grenades.
