The Federal Penitentiary Service and the Ministry of Justice propose to use the labor of prisoners at construction sites in the Arctic The Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) and the Ministry of Justice of Russia, Interfax writes.
For those who decide to “apply their labor skills in the Far North”, it is proposed to introduce a preferential calculation of the term of criminal punishment in the form of forced labor , said the director of the Federal Penitentiary Service Alexander Kalashnikov, speaking at the International Penitentiary Forum “Crime, Punishment, Correction”. They want to involve prisoners in the construction of large industrial facilities, as well as in the cleaning of pollution and improvement in the Arctic zone.
On November 17, it became known that the Federal Penitentiary Service will help a number of Russian regions with the introduction of separate waste collection. The department will provide more than 17 thousand waste containers. The Russian Ecological Operator (REO) explained the choice of the FSIN by its reputation as a reliable supplier.
The FSIN is not only a strict regime colony, when it is impossible to leave the territory, but also a general regime, when prisoners are employed, including for the production of containers “, – indicated in the REO. The service has been providing containers to Russian cities and regions since 2019.
