Pashinyan appreciated Russia's proposals on border demarcation

Pashinyan: all Moscow's proposals on the border with Azerbaijan are acceptable to Yerevan

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called Russia's proposals on border demarcation acceptable with Azerbaijan. News.am reports this on Thursday, November 18.

Pashinyan recalled at a government meeting that he had spoken in parliament the day before, where he said that since May Moscow has made three proposals on the demarcation and delimitation of the borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan. All of them are acceptable for Yerevan.

“After my statement yesterday, the RF Ministry of Defense came up with proposals regarding the preparatory stage of demarcation and delimitation. I want to confirm that these proposals are acceptable to us, “Pashinyan assessed the situation.

The prime minister asked Defense Minister Suren Papikyan to clarify the details with his Russian counterpart. “And we will try to implement the proposals within the framework and on the basis of the proposals made by the Russian Federation,” the Prime Minister concluded.

In the fall of 2020, a war broke out between Azerbaijan and the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) supported by Armenia. Baku regained control over some of the territories lost in the early 1990s. As a result, a de facto new Armenian-Azerbaijani border appeared. However, Yerevan claims that Azerbaijani troops are violating it and are advancing further into Armenian territory.

On November 16, fighting took place on the border, as a result of which several people were killed on both sides. Baku and Yerevan accused each other of escalation.
