In St. Petersburg, the rector of the Institute of Cinema and Television (SPbGUKiT) Alexander Evmenov lost his post after swearing during a video conference at the PeterKit festival in the presence of an Indian producer, Podyom reports.
A man in an obscene manner expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that in Russia, despite the pandemic , cinemas work. A second later, he remembered that the microphone was not turned off and all the participants in the broadcast heard his phrase.
Later, the Ministry of Culture announced that Evmenov was leaving the post of rector of SPbGUKiT. In this position, he should be replaced by producer and screenwriter Natalia Gorina. The department motivated the personnel reshuffle with the emerging need for the development of the university.
However, the students believe that Evmenov was fired precisely because of the incident at the videoconference. While the press service of SPbGUKiT explained that these are not related things and considered it strange to discuss “such nonsense.”
