State Duma Deputy Khamzaev to propose to ban the sale of methyl alcohol in Russia
The State Duma proposed to ban the sale of methyl alcohol. A corresponding letter with the initiative was sent to the government by a member of the Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption Sultan Khamzayev, writes Gazeta.Ru.
According to him, this is necessary in connection with the “monstrous consequences of the uncontrolled sale of methyl alcohol” , as well as the presence of analogues for industrial, domestic purposes. He also added that the relevant ministries cannot ensure the safety of Russians in this area.
“The current legislative norms to protect the health of citizens, restrictions on the ingress of poison, and methyl alcohol is a deadly poison, are not just insufficient, they are not work, “he stressed.
Earlier it was reported that in Kazan, a company of 19 people aged 20 to 22 rested in a cottage and drank surrogate alcohol – a five-liter canister of unmarked vodka, which young people purchased from unknown person. Most of them were hospitalized on November 16 with signs of methanol poisoning.
