CGTN: Tennis player Shuai said she did not accuse Chinese politician Gaoli of raping
Chinese state news channel CGTN local tennis player Peng Shuai allegedly sent the head of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Steve Simon.
The athlete stated that she had not disappeared and had been at home all this time. She denied the information that appeared on the WTA website. It said that Shuai accused the former Vice Premier of China Zhang Gaoli of rape. The tennis player asked the organization not to release news from now on without her consent.
On November 3, Shuai filed charges against Gaoli on the Chinese social network Weibo. According to the tennis player, the first time a politician forced her to have sexual intercourse ten years ago, after which they did not see each other for a long time. In 2018, Gaoli invited Shuai to play tennis with him and forced him to have sex again. She stressed that the meetings happened against her will.
The 35-year-old Chinese woman retired in 2018. She is a two-time doubles Grand Slam winner. The tennis player also has two gold medals at the Asian Games.
